Autumn Scene

The October air oozes past the prickly bushes
- With the dim drum of the cars passing far away
- And the thin hum of the bike that rushes
- Home. Splash! As a shoe steps in the sludge
- On the muddy, watery autumn floor
- A gnarled old man grumbles of his grudge
- Against the clouds that conspire
- To rain down on his every desire
- As life slowly slips away with slight step
- The sun almost gone on its western journey
- Orange and red already joining in its spreading web
