December Flower
-
- A minute down the street a garden blooms
- A tree rebels against December, spring
- Too early graces its bare branches, dooms
- The flow'rs to freeze in a budding ending
- This is no fact-based theory, no vague
- Discussing of the global warming threat
- No TV show about the latest plague
- No day or month too cold, too hot, too wet
- It tells in silence, "Cycles just begin
- Again." Its snowy white leaves form a bell
- Then, one last time touch strokes its fragile skin
- Aeolus breathes, a species waves farewell
- The days will lengthen, but at winter's end
- In naked death this blooming tree will stand
