Leader
-
I knew a leader
- He always wore sandals
- Dirty clothes from travelling too much
- He also had this big nose
- Olive-toned skin and
- Bushy, long hair, with a beard
- He held himself up with lowlife
- Young men he'd induced to leave their jobs
- Whores, swindlers, corrupt government officials
- The godly leaders around him despised him
- He abandoned his family to wander the country
- Living completely off of other people's money
- He worked on the sabbaths, stole from the fields
- Went partying, even made his own liquor
- When he was still young he commited suicide
- In the name of his religion
-
I knew a leader
- In a crowd he would mingle
- With the people with skin problems
- Talk to those without money
- Have a care for the sick, the old, the weak
- He didn't care three straws about skin tone
- Respectability, age or gender
- His words went right to the heart and in turn
- The people he met touched his heart right back
- If he had someone waiting for him he'd skip a meal
- He took time to hear someone out
- He could inspire someone to follow him
- Who would in turn inspire others
- He knew how to feed his guests
- Even when there was no food to be had
- He meant each word he said and each act
- So that each place he went the world brightened
- When dilemmas confronted him he'd think
- Of the solution that wasn't inside the box
- He could stand up to something that
- Would have broken an ordinary man
-
He broke the world instead and
- Bled all the sin from it
