Secularisation has never
- Been the business
- Of those that don't believe
- It's the cold in our bones
- The fear clamped round our throat
- One dare not speak God's name
- In polite Western-world company
- Except to use it in vain

When it crumples, taking belief
- Along down the drain
- It leaves behind only an imprint
- Respect for the Bible's literary prowess
- Or knowledge of the names
- Perhaps a love of Sunday hikes
- Or family over for Christmas
- Long after forgetting the baby
- They still bake the turkey

We can accuse so very much
- Very well, we know what went wrong
- And then to put it right, so difficult
- A sigh across each church meeting table
- Nobody will bother to put in a solution
- We lost faith so we let faith lose
